Latest adventures…..
Y’all, this place is a local gem. You pay an admission into the State Park. Once in there is a plethora of things to do:
The Lodge at Wakulla Springs
This lodge saw the start of its structure in 1935. It is truly beautiful. The wooden structures, the architecture, and the rooms do not have tvs the way Mr. Ball wanted it. It truly makes me happy! They also have a restaurant that even though their vegan options are truly limited, their food is usually very tasty. Just get a reservation to make sure there are enough staff available.
If you are short on time, the Soda Fountain / Gift Shop, has ice cream, hot dogs and more! Plus really cool merchandise.
What to do?
There are scenic boat rides (you need a reservation for this) that take you about a mile down the Wakulla River to see a bunch of wild life, and learn more about movies that were filmed there.
There is a beach with usually clear water, that stays the same temp all year around, you can swim to docks to lay on or jump off and then there is the two story tower you can jump off. It used to be way taller but you know it was wood and safety, so know its a concrete structure that is secure and fun for all!
You can hike as well. Lots of trails for hiking and horseback riding. Just bring bug spray, the bugs will carry you away.
In Conclusion:
We love going here. It was a place a frequented as a kid and I still love it as an adult. There is just something about it that makes me happy! It is so pretty, I have water and woods. My little neuro-divergent brain loves it. If you are in the area. Definitely check it out!
